Why Not to Book Before Seeing the Vehicle First
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and thank you so much for considering us!
I just wanted to write this quick post on why it is pretty important for the bride and groom to take their time and view the limousine or party bus of their choice in person before making a reservation.
First, it is important to ensure that you are not getting quotes and working with a limousine or party bus broker. 95% of limousine companies in Chicago are indeed limo service brokers who do not own their own vehicles and do not hire, train, and employ their own chauffeurs.
Although most of the time you will get a slightly cheaper price by going with a broker, your chances of having something for wrong on your wedding day will be greatly increased. The way that limousine brokers work is this: they take your credit card and “reserve” the limo you want. A few days before (or as a matter of fact even the same day) they call around limo and party bus services that own their own equipment and employ their chauffeurs to see if they have anything open. If they do, the limo company might take the job.
The issue is that all the good limo companies are usually booked during the wedding season, so only the companies that have older equipment or lower quality services are still open.
Another reason why going with a broker is a bad idea is the lack of communication between the customer and the actual limo company. While talking to a limousine broker you will give them all of the important details regarding your special day. When the broker “sells” your job to the company they choose to have your wedding done, most of the time all of the details are “lost in translation” and the driver will only know the time he needs to pick you up and the initial location. When the limousine or party bus will get to your house, the driver might be clueless on what he is doing that day.
Finally, when you go with a broker, most of the time they do not carry liability insurance to protect you and your family in case of an incident. Also, when they are “selling” your job to another limo service, they rarely request to confirm if that service carries adequate insurance and is able to do business in the state of Illinois.
So having said that, please always go to the company that you are thinking about reserving for your wedding. Check out their fleet, the facility, the offices, the staff. All of those factors will give you a good idea if you want that business to be part of your wedding day.
